For some, a garage is a place to store your car. For others, it is a place to store unused exercise equipment. But for Craig Zoberis, the garage is the place he started his successful Burr Ridge business, Fusion OEM.

Fusion OEM is an equipment manufacturing company specializing in private labeling products for industrial automation. It manufactures products for the printing, packaging, medical and food-service industries. Fusion has also developed custom machines for clients ranging from the automotive to the electronics industries.

In 2002, Zoberis manufactured his first product, the Sheet Feeder, for a distributor of Swiss manufactured cutting systems. Today, Fusion has 42 employees and two buildings for the machining and assembly of its products.

In 2009, Fusion was awarded a spot on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies in America. Today Fusion OEM has more than 25 customers and manufactures over 100 products that include everything from simple assemblies of machined parts to complex electromechanical industrial machinery and electrical control panels. Annual revenue has grown from $155,000 in 2002 to almost $7 million in 2011.

The Annual Awards for Business Excellence highlight successful suburban businesses and organizations and honor the people who make them successful. The AABE’s, given for business achievement, growth, and community involvement, are presented to outstanding businesses with a significant presence in the suburban circulation area of the Daily Herald Business Ledger. Businesses are nominated by individuals, businesses, or organizations and must then submit portfolios of supporting materials for judging. Honorees are recognized at an evening reception hosted by the daily herald business ledger.

Fusion Systems has been named one of the 500 fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S. by Inc. as announced in their annual Inc. 500|5000 issue (available at newsstands and in-home September 2009 and online at Inc. magazine www.inc.com, a national publication, is the only major business magazine edited exclusively for entrepreneurs, business leaders, and CEOs of fast-growing private companies.  Inc. ranks #1 for top management and business purchase decision-makers among all titles measured by MRI.  The Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth over four calendar years; specifically, 2005-2008 for the 2009 list. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, independent -- not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies, and revenue in 2005 must have been at least $200,000, with at least $2 million in revenue in 2008.

Over a four year period, Fusion's annual revenue has increased by 691%, making Fusion an ideal candidate for inclusion on this much-anticipated and highly competitive list. Fusion has been named the #1 fastest growing manufacturer in the state of Illinois and is one of only 15 manufacturing companies nationwide to make the list this year. Overall, Fusion ranks at #363 out of 500.

"We are honored to be acknowledged as one of the fastest growing privately-held companies in the U.S.," says Craig Zoberis, President, Fusion Systems.  "It is extremely rewarding to be recognized in this way, and we are proud to share this great accomplishment with our employees, suppliers, and clients, all of whom greatly contributed to our growth and success."

Fusion Systems is a manufacturer of industrial equipment that specializes in the manufacture of other companies' new and legacy products. Fusion currently manufactures industrial products for the packaging, medical, and printing industries.
